Look if you have XP own firewall activated.
You find it under TCP/ip properties.
Hope that helps you.

Hi Leon it is the firewall because when I switch it off it works. I dont know the real cure yet, but I have been asking on this site for the answer for a while now!

What I did to get round it was make a copy of my dail up connection and untick the Firewall which I use when I know I'm going to use MSN Messenger.
Hope this helps let us know if you get the cure please?

Hi Leon. I had a similar problem with messenger and found a tip on another forum. Go to outlook express.-tools, options, security and untick "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus". I wondered about the risks of that but am running xp firewall and antivirus and can now use netmeet etc which I couldnt do before. Hope this helps.+

Hi leon when you untick it you have to come off the net and then go back on again, this makes sure it comes up disabled. (Also have your friends done the same?)
when I had your prob this is what I did and its worked ever since.
And as I said I made a copy of my dail up connection by right clicking it and I use this one if I want the firewall off, but if you do this renable the one you took a copy of. (One set to off the other to on.)
Then you can click which ever one you want to use. Dont give up!
