msn messenger very wierd problem

basically any MSN messenger i try to install other then the inbuilt windows messenger that i got with Xp give me this problem... whenever i click on a contact the message window appears BEHIND the main messenger window ,this in particular is very irritating because im used to the window popping up over the main interface of MSN messenger ... any solutions to this problem? any help would be greatly appreciated.
