I get the error "Logon to MSN Messenger Service failed because service not responding. This service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet." whenever I try to connect, even tho I AM connected to the internet. I checked the server status, and everything is GO GO ... I have tried changing password and that doesnt help. Ive even disabled the firewall. Strangely, this problem has only occured since I wiped my HD and re-installed WinXP; I never had any probs before. BTW, I have an IBM Thinkpad X21. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, thanks for the URL.. but most of help they gave was pretty useless. I read on another thread that uninstalling msn messenger, and deleting corresponding entries from the registry followed by reinstallation works... well, i tried that, and it DOES!!! My messenger is now working... sadly, i cannot transfer files, as much as i cannot access FTP or newsgroups... i suspect some firewall but I have disabled that already.. still i get the problem.
