msn messenger freezes for a while

Whenever I'm in a conversation with 2 or more people and someone is added to the convo, msn messenger freezes and starts working after about a minute. The same thing happens when someone leaves the convo too. I have no spyware or any viruses. I've searched through this forum and couldn't find much. So ummm.... some help please.....
