I’m having audio problems with MSN Messenger 6.2 and 7beta. The audio cuts in and out and at the best of times, there's an annoying mechanical hum each time after I finish saying something. I bought a new desktop: AMD Athlon 2500, 256MB DDR, WinXP, ADSL connection. The internet line I’m using is shared with 3 computers, so I don’t know if that’s the problem. I use my headset at the internet café with clear audio and no problems. I’ve also used my headset at home here with other IM programs such as Skype with very clear audio. The only problems I have are with MSN and Windows Messenger. I tried my on board sound and now I purchased a C-Media CMI8738 full-duplex PCI sound card. The sound card just gives me new problems such as not even connecting to people on MSN. “The network or computer you’re trying to reach is experiencing a problem” and bad audio with all IM programs including Skype.
I have disabled my WinXP firewall and PC-Cillin firewall and tried MSN with no programs running at all, with no success. I've also enabled UPnP in WinXP and tried enabling UPnP on my router, so under "advanced connection" in Messenger it says "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP IP restricted NAT".
Please let me know asap if you can shed some light on my aggravating situation.

Can't help but if it makes you feel better I have exactly the same problem with my new dell.
if you figure it out let me know
tks
