hi
I have been using msn messenger 7.5 for a long time however a few days ago after receiving the automatic windows xp updates and installing those updates, when i went to log into msn, it said i must upgrade and it upgraded to windows live messenger. i don't like windows live messenger very much after testing it for a few days. is there anyway i can change now to msn messenger 7.5 or higher or revert back to msn messenger 7.5?
comments appreciated

Sorry dude, you need to swallow the bitter pill because you really do not have any choices. M$ just made it mandatory for all of us to upgrade to Windows Live Messenger! See the story below.

There is no way around the servers that let you log on to MSN messenger - unless you are running W2K. M$ has programmed the servers to reject ALL earlier versions of MSN Messenger.

The only way you can avoid it is by using a complete different third party program such as Camfrog that do not use M$ servers.

M$ Obsessive Compulsive Order - do or die!

although it can be done, beware of the next auto update!

or try any of these free alternatives, supporting MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! and Google Talk/Jabber and more.

or, if you prefer a stand alone, portable version that works without installation:

Yeah beware of the "beware of the next auto update!" The sneaky Windows update could actually turn your PC into a nice door stop or a new home for the hamsters.

stop thinking ... it ain't gonna work :)

MSN Messenger 7.5 is dead, you can't login if you don't install the latest version. just after trying myself.

however, both Miranda IM and Pidgin are working fine.
