Hello,

I'm having an extremely frustrating problem with MSN Messenger.

Everytime I try and open MSN messenger by double clicking it on my desktop i get the following message: Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close.

The error signature is:

AppName: msnmsgr.exe
AppVer: 7.0.816.0
ModName: msnmsgr.exe
ModVer:7.0.816.0
Offset:001f617e

I can access messenger one way and this is when im in my hotmail account. When it shows messenger offline, you can click sign in. When i do this it signs me in. BUT

When i try and view my fathers webcam (he lives in the US) it crashes. Ive tried to view webcams in the UK also, same problem, it just shuts down.

Can anyone please help on this matter!! Its driving me crazy!

P.s.

Ive downloaded all the windows security updates and still no joy.

I was just prompted yesterday to update my MSN Messenger. Why don't you go out and download the most recent installer and reinstall? That should fix any registry settings that have been corrupted.

Already downloaded the very latest version of Msn Messenger.

Just to add, the messenger icon sometimes appears in my system tray. When i hover over it, it just disappears?

Ive searched the net for a solution and no-one seems to have one?

You should re-install or re-pair your msn messenger
