I was using Msm 8.5 but today it's forcing me it to update it so I can sign in ...I did update it but now I cant sing in from it without giving me an error number its just telling me that"windows live communications platform has encountered a problem and needs to close.we are sorry for the inconvenience...

Achmed, SWAG, possible that during the update it deleted it's cookie thinking it'd be replaced with a new sign in, but since the update was corrupted it went awry? Think I'd delete the update and revert to the older version then update later. My guess is that all you need do is sign in to generate a new cookie. HTH. Ed in Texas.

Find a program off google called ZAPMESSENGER. it will delete msn 9 off your computer, and then you can download msn 8.5 again from www.oldversion.com.
