Specs: Windows XP, Intel Pentium 1.73GHz and
MSN file folder pops up every time I start up. Just started happening recently. Only thing I have added to my system recently was an update to my Norton Anti-Virus program - possibly also a Java update. How do I stop this folder from popping up? Thanks.

Do you mean messenger starts up?

Anyway, start, run, msconfig startup tab, & uncheck things one by one.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

MSN file folder? It sounds like you've probably installed it,
skipped through the options and forgotten to de-select the
"Run at start up" option. It's easy enough to fix though.

Type msconfig from your Run command and locate the file in
the list of programs. It will be ticked. Remove the marker and
it will no longer open automatically when you start Windows.
While you're there, you might want to clean out the rest of
the programs you don't need to be starting straight away.
It'll save a fair bit of time!
