hi

having problems connect to hotmail and msn. I can surf just fine but when I attempted to login into my hotmail account it gives me the unavailable webpage screen. certain email sites I also cant login. When i connect to MSN it gives me a message saying that I dont have that password or hotmail account in exisitance, even though I logged in using my frens PC.

I recently have the trojan.bootconf virus but I removed it, it is cleaned.

I dont know whether it is IE settings but than MSN doesnt work either.

Thanking in advance for your help

Am I right in assuming you mean connecting to MSN as your ISP?

If so, I'd just uninstall the MSN software, then reinstall it. The latest version is 8.5.

MSN is my ISP and tonight for the first time in over a year, I had a problem when trying to sign on with an "Error 31." I reinstalled the software and everything's fine.

I'm not doubting your word, but are you absolutely certain the trojan.bootconf virus was thoroughly cleaned from your PC?

Post again if you can't resolve the problem.

This problem, in my experience, is due to Microsoft finding out you have a dodgy copy of Xp installed. Illegal so to speak. You will probably also notice that Windows Update has stopped functioning.

You can get your Hotmail messages through Outlook/Outlook Express, but as for MSN, you're stuck.

Mail me if you need further advice.

It is not an illegal copy, I bought the laptop from compaq and I am pretty sure compaq dont deal with illegal software.
