MSN 7 conflicts with Photoshop 5.5

I recently installed the new MSN 7.0, however I've since found that it conflicts with Adobe Photoshop 5.5.
If MSN 7.0 is running and I try to start Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop freezes during the start-up procedure.
Initially I didn't realize the cause of this problem, so uninstalled Photoshop. But then I found I was unable to reinstall it (again, since MSN 7.0 was going the Photoshop 5.5 install procedure froze up).
Through a process of trial-and-error I figured out that MSN 7.0 was the problem.
Has anyone else come across this? And can anyone else offer a solution?
