Hey, im running Xp Pro and when I first installed I had constant pop-ups from having an always on connection. I read up and ran services.msc and disabled "Messanger" that did the trick, no more popups and it ran smooth.

Now the problem, the last few days I have been getting pop-ups again. I havnt installed any new software/hardware and I checked services.msc and Messanger is still disabled. The windows are all sorts of regular internet popups. And they always disturb my work. Does anyone know whats causeing them, and/or how to stop them??

Thanks in advance for help.

In your question, you said msmsgs.exe wont stay closed, but then you said that you're getting annoying pop-ups. These are two different things.

The Messenger service is what you need to set to disabled if you don't want those spammy pop-ups, but msmsgs.exe is actually the Windows Messenger internet chat program. Stump gave you the way to get rid of msmsgs.exe, but this has nothing to do with your problem (only the subject you posted with). If you have disabled the Messenger service, you shouldn't still be getting these pop-ups. Check for viruses and trojans using a program such as the excellent (and free) AdAware (don't forget to do an update to get the latest definitions), and then run a full virus scan. Make sure you've gone to Windows Update and installed all Critical Updates.
