Comment:

I haven't gone into Windows XP "System Information" (msinfo32.exe) app for some time, I use Everest Home for that type of info.

I just tried opening it from its shortcut and also by entering "msinfo32" in the Run box which caused Window XP Help and Support Center open instead.

Possibly one of the many windows security updates I installed changed this? Anyone else aware of this>

Solarian,

It was not always that way. The Msinfo utility may well be incorporated into XP's Help and Support Center now. I don't know. Not a big loss. :-|

What did msinfo32 bring up originally? To tell you the truth, it's one of the few run commands I've never used. Or if I did, I can't remember, since I was probably using Aida32.

It gave you system information somewhat similar to Aida32 or Everest Home, but no where near as comprehensive. I may have run msinfo32 several of times in the first months after initially getting XP. Once I came across Aida32 I forgot about msinfo32. Recently, I came across mention of msinfo32.exe after searching out something. I wanted to take a look at it again and it was gone.

I still have the shortcut to msinfo32 in All Programs > Assessories > System Tools.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe
