MSI Mobo wont boot from CD Rom

i have this computer, i recently switched out mobo's, it used to be an HP but the mobo went out and instead of spending 500 for them to replace the mobo, i through in one for cheaper, i put in an MSI mobo, i forget the exact model. i go into the bios and set the boot priority to boot from the cd rom first so i can install the OS. it wont boot from the cd rom!!! does anyone know what im doing wrong.. its very frustrating. sometimes the cd roms dont even show up in the bios its really weird. but i need to re format the hd and install the OS
