Hi,
I just setup two boxes to use simple simple file and printer sharing.
The boxes are sharing an internet connection via linksys befsx41 or something like that, router.
Box 1 is 192.168.1.100 and box two is 192.168.1.101 and subnet 255.255.255.0 for both and the gateway is 192.168.1.1
The boxes have tcp/ip enabled and file and printer sharing enabled, they are both on mshome and are differently named.
Because the internet connection is slipt before either boxes, niether of them need ICS enabled, right?
They can file and printer share perfectly, but neither of them can access the internet.
Is this a setting in the router or do I have to have ICS runnning on them?
If it is the router what is the problem?
Oh and the isp is dhcp which is enabled in the router.
This router shared perfectly before file and printer sharing and now it doesn't, what gives?

If you remove the router by unplugging it and connecting the cable straight to the first computer...can you go online then?
If not then there is some security issues that are keeping you off line.
Check your security settings in internet options. Click on all the icons and select default settings and see if that happens to help.

Ok I figured it out had to enter the dns server info for my isp.
I think maybe that this done for you if leave "obtain address information automatically" radio button checked.
