MSBlast Variant HELP!!!

I really badly need help getting rid of what appears to be MSBLAst
I have tried:
Regedit: regedit closes before i get to the right place symatec worm blaster tool: doesnt find msblast Looking in task manager (none of the variants are showing. Windows update patch: I can download it but when i run it the application shuts down
Basically im totally stumped:
Anyone know what is going on? Would really really appreciate the help!

Try: Start>Run>type msconfig then look at the Startup tab for MSblast.exe Then uncheck it.
I still have the worm in my computer since September. Just unchecked it on day one.

System Restore to a clean point, run regedit: MSBlast, Deleat all references. Install the patch from a disk download. Don't use your oldest restore, (give something to fall back on). I don't think File Checker would hurt if you can't get it to run right. Sfc/scannow, from command prompt. You will need your XP installation CD, to run File Checker.
Summary: Sounds like u do have a variant of the msblast virus. Spybot won't detect that, and I have never rated Norton products much (sorry !!). Resource hungry, innefective, bloatware would be my description....
