I had the Blaster virus on my computer. I downloaded the patch using my Win95 box and then installed it on my WinXP box. I haven't noticed any problems since I installed the patch. However, there is a file in my C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch folder named MSBLAST.EXE-09FF84F2.pf. I have renamed it MSBLAST.EXE-09FF84F2.pf.bak for now. Should this file be deleted?

the actual msblast file would have an .exe extention, not pf. You probably have an anti-virus program istalled which gave it the .pf (protected file) extention. Remove it through your AV software.

It could not have been created by AV software b/c I do not have AV installed on this machine. (I know, I really should get it.)

Delete it and Install a personal firewall like zonealarm or sygate.
