MSbackup.qic doesn't work on xp

MSBackup.qic doesn't work on windows xp (I hate this condition). My computer went out, I got a new one--with windows xp. When I tried to restore my "fullbackup" it wouldn't work. 2 wks. later, I'm still stuck.

so take it to a friend's computer with a CDRW and the operating system you used to have, restore the files to his/her computer into a separate file folder, then using one of the direct write programs such as DirectCD, copy the files to a cd and then take them back to your XP pc. now your files are on the cd just as files not a backup format file. XP Backup uses the same qic extension but it is not compatible with the earlier backup.

Summary: Lemme guess....you UPGRADED the computer to XP, and you WERE using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 or below. Then you upgraded and suddenly...wow....doesn't work! If this IS the case...your almost screwed...
