MS log on annoying popups

Every time my system comes up MS shows a popup window saying I need an update. Well I do not want that update and I said no but the window will not go away and it is starting to really annoy me. I wrote to MS and they wanted my life history;my computer history; pages and pages and lots of time and then to charge me to get the answer!!!!!

Right click My Computer, then Properties, then Automatic Updates tab, then change "Notification Settings" ?

I was happy until the next morning and the same thing happened! Since you directed me to that area I tried a number of start up deletions and all of them did not work. I still cannot get rid of that annoying popup.
