Very, very brief (one paragraph) but interesting article regarding Microsoft's Live One Care and its "not too stellar" rating at virus detection.

WLOC didn't only fail the AV test - it also will eat your Outlook/Outlook Express mail (PST & DBX) if you haven't properly configured it.

Yup..... I've got another MS bug-a-boo here too; that damn Windows Genuine Advantage thing. For the life of me, I just can't seeem to put my finger on why my Zone Alarm pops up prompts about 6 times every day, asking if I'll allow WGA access.

I've said "yes" countless times; even tried "deny"... it still pops up. Strange thing is is that Windows XP Home came pre-installed on this Dell; there is certainly no piracy here, lol. I installed all the critical Windows Updates; of which one of them was their WGA can to check the validity of Windows XP. All is legit; XP came on this from Dell, duh...

I guess I'll have to go into my Zone Alarm Program Access settings and permanently (grant or deny?) access.. Anyone have a recommendation whether I should allow or deny it???
Maybe that's the only reason I can stop those damn prompts..... This must be Microsoft's "phone home" thing...

Gee... just what I need here too; more gray hairs, lol. Bad enough it's thinning, now it's gonna gray up even more !!!!

I have ZA Security Suite 7 and WGA is set to Auto, Trust Level "Super" and I don't get any pop ups with it. As for WLOC. That is one piece of software that I got my money back from Microsoft. My wife couldn't play her games, and my step daughter couldn't connect out side of our home wireless set up, no matter how loose Iset it and no matter how many times I reconfigured it. I installed ZASS 6 on their computers and all is great.Got rid of Norton as well. Not that ZASS does't have its problems but at least I can deal with those rather handily.

I guess I'll have to go into the Program Access section and change it to "always allow". Right now it is set with a "?" question mark, so I get that damn pop up prompt at every boot-up....actually, numerous times a day too.

It's funny; I had always thought WGA was a "one time" thing that you run, and it checks & verify's your operating system, and never comes back again.

Guess I was wrong there, lol... Seems to want access too many damn times here... And as I mentioned, my Windows XP Home is legit as it came installed on this Dell computer when I bought it brand new from Dell.

Oh well... one of those Microsoft "phone home" things, I guess.....
