MP3 player won't recognize anymore

hey i don't know if anyone can help but i think i recently installed a windows update that screwed up my mp3 detection on my usb ports... i connect it and it is looking for some drivers something about MTP device... and it can't install it so if i connect my creative or sandisk mp3 player it doesnt recognize it and now i can't upload song \ recharge it. I thaught of just doing a system restore but it was off for some reason, so i need to find what's causing this and remove it.

Did you by chance update Windows Media Player? I know that on some cell phones that are mp3 capable have issues with WMP 11. Could be the same issue??.
There is always System Restore and you could look for updated firmware for your player on the manufacturers site.

well thing is i tried restoring but my system restore was off so that solution was gone in a second.
i'm gonna try to uninstall WMP11 and reinstall it cause i think it's only one of the updates that makes my usb not recognize my mp3 anymore...
Cause the thing is with WMP11 it used to work before and after i did some windows update i think that's when everything went wrong...
This is probably my last try so if this doesn't work i'll probably just format again...
