Hi there, I've just bought my wife a Digital MP3 Player USB 2 with 2GB Flash Drive (correct terminology?)
This uses Win XP Drivers, all set up, nothing to install.
Now if I go to My Computer and look at the device, it's there but no Total Size or Free Space figures are showing.
If I click on Properties for this device I am shown the correct Used & Free space. The problem is with the amount of useable space, I've copied 495MG over, no problem, then I get a message " .... The directory or file can not be created"
Don't know if this has any bearing or not but I'm transferring from NTFS to FAT
Something in the back of my mind tells me that I have to 'set up' the drive to be recognized by My Computer? although it is?
This is driving me mad, been at it for days on and off now and I'm getting stick from the wife because she wants her player working correctly, or a new one that does!!!
It's not that I can't remember things as I get older, it's just that my hard drive's full.

Every drive, floppy/HD/etc has a limit on the number of entries in the root. Try making a directory [like MUSIC] and see if you can copy more than 500MB there.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

Seconding Mechanix2Go's advice. Just remember to move/delete something off of the drive before making the folder.

What can I say but a big THANK YOU.
I deleted all files, created a File called Music and copied over 1.5GB. Everything is working well now so again thanks for the help.
Computing.net, one of the best help forums on the net, always comes up trumps.
