MP3 files save as .MPEG files help!

on certain websites when i right click and save an mp3 file to my hard drive it changes the .mp3 to .mpeg It doesn't give me any other choice even though the link i am downloading from clearly states it's a .mp3 file my comp forces me to save it as an .mpeg
everytime i finish downloading a file i have to rename it to .mp3
