I assume you're talking about Internet Explorer. I prefer Firefox and use IE only when necessary.

I'm inclined to believe that it will be sooner than 10 years. The url below stated it will be 18 to 24 months - just 20% of the time it took to come up with IE7.

it wouldn't be THAT lomg now ... the longest period between major releases was about 4 years (see the history below) and rumour has it that we will see IE 8 not long after FF3
In 1996, Microsoft licensed Spyglass Mosaic from Spyglass for a quarterly fee plus a percentage of Microsoft's revenues for the software. (we all know how spyglass got screwed over these royalties :-)
Internet Explorer was not widely used until the release of version 3 (2/96) followed by ie 4 (9/97), ie 5 (3/99), ie 5.5 (6/00), ie 6 (8/01), ie 6 sp1 (9/02) and finally ie 7 (10/06)
however, since this seems to be abrowser popularity poll between FF and IE, my vote goes to Firefox (currently using 1.5 through TheOnionRouter)

Mozilla. But still have to use IE for certain sites, so both stay on my machine ready to work at a moment's notice.

I used to dislike Chocolate. Now I love it. :) Although I'm partial to teaberry and Spumoni with little amaretti cookies sprinkled over the top. :)
