Comment:

Today I've updated FF from version 102 to version 103 and rebooted. The browser open OK but any url I typed in the address bar or any bookmarked links I clicked on comes up with the following exclamation error message:

www.computing.net could not be found. Please check the name and try again.

How do you correct this? I must admit I haven't been using FF lately and tend to forgot how to do it.

TIA

BTW my PC is fine - IE sails through flawlessly.

One possibility could be that Mozilla DNS is down...no?

Just updated to 1.0.3, and no problems here. Maybe try reinstalling FF?

Hello El Hello jonesyjones,

I must be half sleeping today. The problem was the firewall. I didn't allow FF to access the net!!. Thanks for your help me on this one.

That's usually a firewall "blocking" issue, especially from a recent download. Try Stipes alternative build too.

Hi EC,

Let me clarify what happened. My FW asked me if I want to block this new FF installation from accessing the net. I click OK without thinking straight. I rectified my mistake and everything is well.

When I first had FF it was an ealry build and then with the bad update feature, I had 1.1. AND 1.2 and now with update to 1.03, 1.01 is gone and each time I checked to ALLOW Internet access or can't do much without it.
And the Stipes build shows 1.04 at the ABOUT button.

Remember, when you upgrade with FF, you want to keep your previous profile and then uninstall the prev version, but now it's OK with the updates. The download path/directory may need to be adjusted.

XpUser,

Re your response #7 above. I did the same thing when installing FF 1.0.4. How did you rectify this? My FW is Norton Personal Firewall 2004. Much thanks.
