Moving to left edge on desktop displays split

November 22, 2010 at 15:07:46
Specs: Win Xp sp3, ?386/486
I have an old PC with WinXP (sp3) installed. I did something - combination of keys I think which means that every time I move the mouse to the left edge of the desktop the contents of "My Computer' is displayed as a split screen - white background and no menu bars. I do not have dual monitors enabled, neither do I have tiled options in the Task manager. This also happens in Safe mode. I cannot find any settings - folder, views etc that have changed from my usual setup. If I open another folder this displays as normal - ie size, position and menu and status bars.
Any help would be appreciated please. Thanks in advance.

Is this just a case of you have inadvertantly enabled the desktop toolbar and set it to autohide?

If so then on the bottom right hand of the task bar (in an empty space) right click, select toolbars and untick desktop.

When everything else fails, read the instructions.

Thanks Mosaddique but I don't think this was it. Fortunately we have managed to repeat what was done earlier and the problem has resolved itself. I have to see the other half to find out what was done and will let you (and others) know as soon as possible.
