I am trying to move files for example 20090925_DOE_J_CB006584 from a mass scan folder called support (\\Server2\apps\USERS\SCANS\Support) to an individual folder that is only named DOE_J_CB006584 that is in a collections folder (F:\COLLECTIONS) and delete the original. also if there is no file it needs to create a the folder it needs to go into

jmgrant711, strikes me that you can simply drag/drop the file and do what you wish.

If you are using "My Computer " or "Window Explorer" neither of these will automatically create a folder. This option only works through programs which have this feature written into them.

You need to manually create a folder prior to moving the file then drag and drop it into the folder.

I know I can drag and drop but I dont feel like draging and droping 4000 files. I would like a script that I can run to do it for me.
