Movie maker degrades quality

I recently bought a digital camcorder (Panasonic DV-PV203) Downloading to most recent version of Movie Maker results in excellent quality. However, during editing, the video quality degrades. It gets even worse after copying the edited movie back onto the camcorder. Audio seems to be okay. Knowledge Base was no help. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
