Movie Maker 2 Freezes

Whenever I add a video transition to my vids Movie Maker freezes and I have to do END TASK. Why is this?? I've only had this computer for 5 days!

What processor? How much RAM? What Graphics card? Do you get an error message? What version Moviemaker?

HP Pavilion AMD Athlon XP 2600+
448MB ram
no idea where to find info about graphics card
I get no error msg..it just goes to "not responding"
Movie Maker 2 as stated in subject line
