I filled up my 20 GB hard drive, so without thinking bought a 80 GB external drive.
Now I realize that most of the 20GB are being taken up by programs, not data.
Is there a way to move all my programs to my new external drive?
Someone mentioned something about ghosting would be the best way.
If so, could I then delete them from the c:drive?
Thanks,

Ghosting is the process of copying the entire contents of one drive to another. This will not work in your situation. The problem is that many of the dependencies for individual programs are set within the registry and other places. If all of these dependencies are not set correctly, the program will not run or may experience problems.
If I remember correctly, Norton Utilities has a tool that allows you to move the location of a program, but I have never used it. I think you have two options:
1. Uninstall then Reinstall some of your bigger apps to the new 80GB external drive.
2. Remove the 80GB drive from the enclosure and image your 20GB drive tot he 80GB drive. Then use your 80GB as your primary drive within your computer. Then put the 20GB drive in the external enclosure and use it for backup.
If it were me I would go with option 2. But depending how comfortable you are with PC hardware that may not be an option. Plus it will probably void your warranty on the external drive.
