Move Documents and Settings to e:

Hey,
My roommate has a retarded setup on his machine. His drive is split into 4 4gig partitions(give or take). The C: Drive is full and the Documents and settings folder takes a huge amount of space. So I want to move it to another partition.
How would I do this? Obviously I cannot just copy and paste.
Thanks,
David
Spyware, Viruses, Blue Screens, Price. Many great reasons to switch to Linux :D

M$ strongly recommends against renaming any system folder (for which the Documents and Settings is one). Catastrophic system failure or an unstable computer can result from renaming system folders. If you still want to do it anyway, I suggest you carefully read this MSKB.
Good luck.

If it's your Documents and settings folder filling up the drive I would look at why?
Is it just your "My Documents" folder filling it up?
If so.. Log into that user. Right click on "My Documents" go to "Properties" then change the path you see in that box. click on "Move" This will tranferr your My Documents folder over to the other drive..
As for any other folders filling up the Documents and settings. Either you need to clean your temporary folder. (3-4 folder per user) or a little program cleaning.

Beyond moving the folder, move the files. You don't need to store everything there. Consider moving and storing documents, photos, music, etc. to another drive.

Good thoughts about moving My Documents folder itself to another drive! To do this the right way, follow this MSKB.
Information regarding moving other Shell Folders (and contents) are given HERE. Shell folders are special folders that Windows uses to indicate the default location for many types of settings and data.
