CPU/Ram: AMD Athlon 2600, 512 DDR

this is an odd one. at ronadom times (far as i can tell!) the shadowon my mouse ponter goes missing and i have to go back into its properties and apply it again I am using the Animated hourglass theme, and no fancy mouse or other software linked to it.
Anyone solve this one coz i am stumped!

have you ever loaded sun java or microsoft virtual machine??
it could be a java problem.
