The wheel won't scroll up and can't change the size of text.I uninstalled the drive for the mouse and in the change dialoge box I clicked look for wheel but that didn't do any good.Maybe I just need a new mouse but I used another use mouse and it worked the same.Any ideas?

Thanks Johnw & Syslock for your input I tried the method in run(assume wheel is present) the other 2 are in the register and I didn't feel comfortable in there so I left that alone. My mouse is Ps/2 compatable and name is Compaq

I was actually looking for the model of mouse not pc. What you are trying to configure can be done in control panel>printer and other hardware>mouse. Open the mouse properties and there should be a wheel tab that you can set the properties in. If the wheel tab isn't there, download the specific mouse driver and install it for the mouse you have.

Syslock; All I know is my mouse is a compaq and under device mgr. it says ps/2 compatable. I went to microsoft and there aren't any better drivers then what I have.Like I said the scroll works 1 way only and the text won't change with scroll. My updates in microsoft are all ok and also with H.P.I don't think it is the mouse that's bad. Thanks again for your time.

As syslock stated you need the correct driver for your mouse. If that mouse came from HP then go to thier site for the drivers. PS/2 compatible simply means a 2 button mouse that will work in the PS/2 port. The scroll function is usually programable and that requires special drivers. They may be installed already. Look in Control panel as was suggested.
