Well i have asimilar problem, not sure If I would call it lag, but yeah...

in counterstrike the mouse would pause for half a second, and what ever key wwas being pushed at the time eg. sidestep, this movement would continue until the mouse unpaused. My mouse is a USB gigabyte optical and my OS is XP pro, note howeever this does not happen in Windows ME...

I have the same problem as Nick, except im running Windows 98, and i use to have a USB opti, but i thought that was the problem, so i went back to my my old ugly mouse, becuase i thought the optical was casuing the problems. well, it was part of it.. its a little better, but still bad.. and i can only play 1 map becuase it gets so bad ^_^ I also have the same problem running Emperor, Battle for Dune, and Rainbow Six (i use to play it great before) im thinking about getting a new vid card...
