Hi,

The mouse and keyboard are taken over sometimes. In webforms and excel cells, the machine starts typing itselves, sometimes it starts with a number of dots, or the word 'the'. When I try to open Excel files (office XP), the mouse points to other files in the Open File dialog and opens them. Anyone any idea's?

It sounds very much to me like somebody has gained remote access to your computer.

Does this happen when you are not connected to the net as well? If so, are you on a LAN?

That's the only idea I have.

If you suspect this I would install a firewall and watch the traffic requests.

One other thing is that some one has also gained remote access to your computer...Then bugged off and left you with a nice macro.

A macro is a file or program which infects data bases (like excel work sheets) and then starts doing stuff automatically...Check your processes and close anything not needed and see if it still occurs..if it does still keep on doing it, there could be a fault with your keyboard and mouse. (Highly unlikely).

Good Point Andrew, it could be a Macro left behind. It would be easy enough to do.

When you open up a spreadsheet go to Tools / Macros and see if you have any in the list.

If you do - check them.

No one has gained access to your computer. The problem is sounds are being picked up by your microphone and the speech to text feature is taking over.

Either shut off the micorphone in the Windows mixer panel or disconnect the microphone.
