Mouse click delay or no response

Specs: XP Prof, 2.5Ghz/1GB

Hello to all,

I currently have a very aggravating problem on my desktop pc (XP Prof SP2) using my wireless mouse (Microsoft wireless Comfort Keyboard w/ Optical Mouse 2.0).

My problem is that quite often I get no response (or up to 5 sec delay) after I do a single left or right-click. This is very frustrating as you can imagine, since I end up left clicking many times quickly to get a single action/response.

I've already called Microsoft Hardware support and tried to troubleshoot, but all they ended up doing (after escalating to specialist) was to send me a new keyboard/mouse - where I have still have the same problem.

Any help that I can here would be greatly appreciated, TIA.
