hi frends,
i have just updated my box from ME to Xp.
I cant find the modem driver for XP. I dont know much 'bout my modem, but all i know is this.conexant motorola sm56 speakerphone modem
Motorola V.90 (this is written on installation manual)
hcs 56k modem (this is shown in modem diagnostic Quary)NOW XP shows me the modem name as: BEST DATA/DATA/Fax modem.
I had modem CD (i have lost it.) but i still have modem installation manual. it says install the driver from the following path from CD
path: MOTOROLA (conexant)(ambient)(lucent) \win 98 (me - 2000 - 95)is there any driver available for my modem ? or do i have to install win ME again ?
please he me !!

go here http://www2.driverguide.com/uploads/uploads11/10893.html
to the download you need
get rid of all traces of sm56 from your computer before you try to install it
you have to set your driver sighning to "install anyway option"
tell us how you wentTHE BAT

Well I also had a Conexant modem which XP installed as a 'Best' modem.
Don't worry bout it, it's just XP naming a generic modem. Providing it's working ok, just leave it as it is !!

Best is probably the chip set on the modem.
I haven't seen Best modems on the market in years, but they used to be pretty good.
On a price level with Zoom modems, who are still around.
