its the content of the files that your downloading/uploading when the legalities come about..
I.E. Copyrighted materialThe chances of the Cops/F.B.I. coming round your house because you have downloaded some copyrighted material are almost nil.
and you ask if its safe..i take it you mean the content of the files you download...in a word no....but hey,,, neither is crossing the road..you take your chances :-)
personally I wouldn't touch Morpheus with a barge pole...try Shareaza

Last time I read anything about Morpheus was that it had spyware in the later versions.
The earlier versions don't work anymore.Any file that you down load from the Internet should be virus checked before you open it for the first time. This goes for any download. A good way to spread a virus would be to share it via these peer to peer programs but call the file 'britney spears sarah michelle gellar nude.exe'. You can be sure some thicko will open it.

This version is free and does not contain any spyware. You will still have to check every down load.

maybe i'm blind.. buti went to the oldversion.com site and i dont see kazaalite on there at all. it seems to me that it used to be there.. as i had it bookmarked at one time. but i dont see it now. any other place to get it from?? and is shareaza spyware loaded??

morpheus is legal, just you cant really do much with it that is legal. if u download music, movies, games, or software, that is illegal.
Yes, you could get caught. The RIAA will probably not come nocking on your door if u download a few songs, but it is illegal anyway. if you download a couple hundred, then maybe they'll care. however, downloading other stuff like software or music might get you in some trouble. companies that make this stuff have their own people that look for people downloading their stuff. i know b/c i downloaded a software program once a long time ago. they contacted me w/ a letter through my ISP, telling me to delete the file immediately and to never download anything again. ever since i have been 100% legal. they said they would shut down my internet service and smack me w/ a fine if i did it again. what good luck i have :)Email me for info on how to get a free ipod. No BS and totally legit and works!

thanks for telling me about shareaza .. i appreciate the advice.. it would be better to hear from something other than the source that they dont have spyware.. i am not that trusting.. LOL. does anyone know a good place to go for Kazaalite.. as stated earlier.. oldversions.com does not have it as far as i see.. i have not heard about limeware per.. is that like the others.. and also spyware free??

Adaware and spybot find the normal ad stuff on it but I've never had a problem. It is pretty much the same as the others but the new version seems much faster than the others.

I too use Shareaza and really like it. It's open source so I know there's nothing malicious in it and it connects to the three biggest networks. Toss in Bittorrent support and you've got the best p2p app available at the moment.

Oldversion.com took off kazaalite because of some "issues" but I use limewire (and kazzalite k++ before it was taken off) and I wouldn't touch: Kazza (spyware and viruses), morpheus (extremely slow and spyware), but mostly imesh...imesh gives me the shudders just mentioning it.
I also like bittorenting, but Shareaza isn't the best thing for it. Look up on google.ca (or google.com, but it's the same thing) and type in "BitTornado". I believe that's the BEST way to go with bittorrenting.
