Specs: Windows XP
My monitor won't display the boot screen!
all my monitor displays is a no signal screen.
i am trying to install windows xp via floppy.

sounds like you have a hardware issue related to the video card. Fix that first.

Could even be a monitor plug, socket or cable issue. Make sure you are plugged into the right port if you have both "onboard Video" and a "Video card" present.

fixed it. it was the ram and improperly seated video card.

now it won't install windows xp entirely.
it starts then reboots and says missing file "asam" or asad" or something like that.

plz help

Make absolutely sure about those RAM and Video card edge connectors first. Clean both of them with a pencil eraser then pop them in and out a few times to ensure there is no oxide on the sockets themselves.

If your install still fails let us know the exact error message.
