monitor shuts down But, pc stays on

When I shut down my system, the computer goes thur the shut down ,then turns off the monitor but, the pc stays on. I must turn off the power strip to completely turn the system off. Help !!

sounds like your computer is going into standby mode. Are you clicking start->turn off computer->shutdown? Or do you press the power button on your computer case?

If you press the power button on your computer case to shut down, then click start -> control panel -> power options -> advanced

There you can specify what the computer does if you press the power button...
