Some how my internet protection got turned off while surfing and I got infected by over 3,000 spywares, trojans and worms! As soon as I discovered this, I powered down into safe mode and ran Stopzilla. It ran for over 5 hours and killed everything it found. I was able to get back up and running with out any major problems. Since then though, my systems monitor, after going into screen saver mode, will go to sleep. It wakes up when I move my mouse but until it warms up, the screen is dim. I have a 2nd disk with an exact duplicate copy of my 1st disk that is bootable. I haven't copied to it since the infestation on drive one. If I boot to it, my monitor works fine, same if I boot the 1st drive into safe mode. MY question is this "What file for the monitors settings can I restore to cure my problem?"

Do you have the power settings as such that the monitor turns off? If so, change the setting to what you want it to be.
