Comment:

I had an older video card (Radeon 9800 Pro) that would get a max resolution of 2048x1536. That card was causing problems with the rest of my computer, but it allowed my Monitor's refresh rate to go to 85Hz instead of 75Hz. I bought a new card, the PNY Nvidia 6800 and it won't let me turn up the refresh rate about 75Hz. Is this all to do with my video card or my monitor?

Thanks in advance
Sean

Do you have the correct drivers installed?

Check to make sure that the box is unchecked that says hide modes that this monitor can not display in the monitor tab of your display properties.

If it still wont go any higher, its the monitor at fault, not the video card.

I could try reinstalling the driver for the monitor, it can't hurt it.

I have the "Hide modes that the monitor cannot display" box checked and the max is 75. With my old video card it would let me do 85 and I think one level higher than 85.

I don't think it can be my monitor because with my old card it ran at 85Hz just fine.

Thanks

Uncheck the box and select what you want.

I've tried unchecking the box and selecting 85Hz. I've also gone in to my Nvidia grahpics card options and done a refresh rate override at 85Hz. Both times my monitor says "Frequency out of range."
