monitor problems with new mobo

i've just installed a new mobo and when i switch on the pc the monitor automatically switches off. the pc seems to load ok from what i can hear. there are no error beeps or anything and the gree power led is on. ive changed two graphics cards so it must be something else. what could be the problem (mobo is VS440FX) manual here : http://www.geocities.com/aslamyo/VS440FX.pdf
