After Windows XP boots up, the following is displayed on the moonitor screen: OUT OFF RANGE, H: Mhz, V: Hz; System setting correct? Once the aforementioned appears on the monitor display, you can't access anything else.

HELP!

James B. Banks
Sergeant Major
U.S. ARMY

Monitor displays OUT OFF RANGE, H: 50-70 MHZ, 20-50 HZ, SYSTEM SETTINGS CORRECT? The aforementioned stays on the monitor display.

the screen is either cheap junk or too old or incompatible with that video card/adapter. use a differant screen you should be okay. by the way, i admire your involvment in the army and your rank. i dont have the discipline for that. lol

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours.

I think you might have set an incorrect resolution. You're using a lcd flat panel monitor, right? If so, try temporarily plugging in a CRT monitor, and switching the resolution back to the lcd monitor's native resolution (usually 1024x768)

Or you might have the refresh rate set too high.

Can you see the computer boot up? If so, go into safe mode (press F8 during bootup when it tells you to). Then change the resolution/refresh rate there. (right click the desktop, and click properties)
