Hello everyone, this is my first post on a computing forum, so I am a newbie when it comes to computers. Anyhow here it goes...I just bought a new hard drive so I'm trying to install Windows on it. I was in the setup screen and I formatted the hard drive and everything. After all of the setup files were copied and everything the computer had to reboot to continue. This is when I got this "frequency out of range" message on my monitor. So now my monitor is constantly blank preventing me from finishing the windows installation. If this has happened to anyone or if anyone has a solution to this madness...please help!

Right after the second DOS screen(as your unit is starting) hit the F8 key a few times. This should bring up the options window. Choose the SAFE MODE option. If the desktop loads, install the video drivers. If you have built in video (onboard the motherboard) install the motherboard drivers.
Has XP ever been installed on this board before?
What Hard drive do you have?
What motherboard do you have?
What video card do you have?
Do you know if the motherboard is XP rated?

Sorry for the late reply, but I figured out what the problem was. I used another video card from my other computer and it worked fine. I then put the original video card back in and it worked fine. I guess by using another video card reset the frequency settings on my monitor or something. Anyhow, thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it.
