Specs: windows xp pro, 2ghz/512mb
alright, this is a problem that my friend keeps getting and its really confusing both of us
this is what he asked me to say:

please someone has to know the solution to this, or he will never stop nagging me!

I have been having this problem for a few days now. When i turn on my computer it works fine for about ten minutes and then the monitor turns gray for a second and then turns black. It then stays black or if i am lucky turns back on after a few seconds. If it does turn back on the graphics are messed up and then it turns back off again. If i reset the computer it often dosen't work until i leave it for an hour

When the computer is turned off but the monitor is still on. The light on it (the monitor) blinks green which i think it means No Signal mode. This also occurs when the screen goes black above. The point of this comment is i think it is not receiving a signal from the graphics card.

I also tried updating the graphics card drivers but it said i had the latest

The computers specs are

2 Ghz

512 ram

Radeon 9550 graphics card (not onboard)

Running Windows Xp

This problem has only been occurring recently below are some pictures of the problem i took as it occurred again this morning

Computer went black my reflection >_>

Monitor light blinks-

Computer comes back on and some graphics are messed up - After a minute Radeon popped a message up sayign they recovered the graphics Card(the blurry screen was my camera butt he google firefox logo was the computer)

A few seconds later it turned off again

My dad's idea was sticking a fan behind the computer incase it was overheating but it didn't worka s we did this before it crashed

Anyway what do you recommend.

Thankyou in advance

Also sorry if there are any typos

They say a picture tells a thousand words but in this case you may just as well have photographed the screen with the power off... it does not tell a single thing. From tour description I would think that the power supply in your monitor may be at fault particularly as you say it works after a switch off for an hour or so. I would start by substituting a monitor... if another monitor is OK then your problem is solved.

Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

If Ewen's suggestion of swapping the monitor didnt resolve yr problem.
Check the video card: is the video card on board fan running, are all your internal PC fans running ?

Over heated cards / internal PC components will show some very strange faults.
