Monitor goes into standby

Ok for like a month or so i havent got this %^$^ graphics card to work. I installed a new Geforce FX 5600 256m card and i have all newest drivers. When i run a 3d program such as games or 3dmark they make my monitor go blank and green light turns orange... standby. I have to reset computer every time. i tried computer on friends monitor and it did same thing. Someone help me plz. Specs: AMD Athlon XP 2200 512 DDR ram Geforce FX 5600 256m Hercules 7.1 Sound card Windows XP

Bad card?
Do you have an old XP compatable card lying around?
Bring the gForce card back and try a different card, or at least borrow a friends card and see how that goes.

Well first i would contact tech support to see if there is just an operator's fault installing and then if all else fails trade it in for a different one. Chances are its the computer not recognizing it right.
