Does the monitor support the default resulution or your computers graphics card.
If not, it might be the cause for the yellow light.
Start your windows in safe mode and change the resolution of the graphics card to a lower resolution.
Then restart windows in normal mode.

Monitor does not show any screen at all. And computer comes on and stays on as soon as plugged in... Will not switch off... The CD/DVD drive lights flash ad they did before the problem. I have tried unconnecting all but power to the motherboard, PS fan, switch, one stick of RAM and CPU fan... Still no monitor. Any ideas except "toss it?". Yet I think I have learned much because of this problem.... Its probably just an "oh well!!"

Have you tried to use another monitor cable?
Can you connect the monitor to another computer, maybe a friends computer, to figure out, whether the monitor itself has a problem, or your computer has the problem?
