I have a zoom external and only have to turn it on in windows to get it to work, not restart. Half of the time if i have the modem on when i start windows, it will try to reinstall the modem and i get an error installing message, but it is really already installed and still works. My old pci modem is faster and has no bugs compared to my overpriced external.

Have the same problem, "Modem not Present"
I think its because I have set up the modem (drivers etc.) through an 'user account' and not through the 'administrator account' thus the modem is not binding. But it is present if i log off the user account & re-logon through another account..
