Shadi: It doesn't detect it because Windows XP has not approved or doesn't have their Windows logo of approval, otherwise known as Driver Signing. You might try the Volcano website and see if they have a windows xp approved driver for your modem. It is only using the generic from the windows xp driver's list. There is not much you can do unless you get a Volcano driver blessed by Windows XP (driver signing) Good luck

Just install your win2000 drivers for the modem. Try this, remove the yellow marked pci communication device in hardware properties, so that when you restart it will detect the modem. Have your driver disk in the cdrom and let it search for the driver, if it finds it and gives you the warning click yes and install anyway. you can also install the modem manually by going to the add hardware properties or modem properties in the device manager.
